A French 12-bore 1777 model varient 1783 Type flintlock Officer's pistol
Late 18th century

With plain tapering barrel indistinctly marked and numbered '83' at the breech, short tang, and extension down the back of the butt, brass action engraved 'St. Etienne' beneath the ring-neck cock (top jaw and screw replaced) and stamped with a crowned 'L' beneath the pan, rounded butt stamped with indistinct marks on one side and 'V3' on the other, regulation brass mounts, side-mounted steel ramrod, and steel belt hook (some wear overall, steel parts lightly pitted)
