The first with plain barrel retained by a spring-held pierced steel barrel band (an old replacement) also forming the ramrod-entry, dated border engraved tang, border engraved flat bevelled lock and ring-neck cock (top jaw and screw replaced), the former engraved 'Manufacture de Charleville' (similar to Neue Støckel 8538), figured stock (butt damaged) indistinctly dated behind the side-plate, engraved steel mounts comprising side-plate, rounded beaked pommel and trigger-guard with moulded finial, and later ramrod (steel parts russet overall); the second of regulation pattern with brass mounts, the half-stock serial numbered over an indistinctly stamped circular arsenal mark behind the side-plate, and original steel ramrod (steel parts russet overall, stock split above the tail of the lock) (2)
