Of steel and made in one piece, with almond-shaped skull rising to a flattened stalk and encircled at the base with later lining rivets, each on a brass rosette-shaped washer, and narrow turned brim struck with a mark at the rear (plume-holder missing, minor pitting)

The mark, which represents the arms of the Barberini family under a coronet, is found on a large group of 'Spanish' morions from the old Papal armoury, now in the Museo Storico Vaticano in the Lateran Palace, Rome
