An English Civil War Period Shot-Proof Breast- And Back-Plate
Mid-17th Century

The first of heavy form with low medial ridge, flanged at the base and cut with a shallow central curve, neck and arms with deeply incised line border, the former struck with a mark, and two studs for shoulder-straps (missing), the back-plate (old patched repair) with turned culet, arms and neck, the latter struck with an indistinct mark (some pitting and rust patination overall) (2)
33.6 cm. and 37 cm. high
