An East European Powder-Flask
Carpathian Basin, 18th/19th Century

With forked body of natural staghorn, the outer side polished and engraved with geometric designs involving a central rayed motif within borders of triangles surmounted by incised dots, the inner side with applied crowned shield-shaped escutcheon engraved with owner's name, later brass top with cylindrical horizontal adjustable sprung cut-off dated 1824 above 'W.', and two iron suspension mounts
