A Brass-Mounted Gunpowder Storage Flask, And Nine Various Powder- And Shot-Flasks
18th/19th Century

The first with polished hard black leather body bulbous at the front, flattened at the back and stitched together, and with four suspension tabs, turned brass top mount with threaded brass nozzle for the cap with hinged clasp for a padlock; the second comprising a small artillery priming-flask with body formed from a section of polished cow horn, brass basal mount and tapering nozzle each with turned decoration, sprung brass tap, and two rings for suspension, a powder-horn of similar form, with turned brass mounts (nozzle replaced), and two rings for suspension, another similar (basal mount missing), a cow horn flask in Scottish style, with body of curved flattened form tapering to the nozzle and with incised decoration along one side, and wooden base-plug (brass strap incomplete), a brass-mounted powder-flask for longarms, with copper body embossed with a shell on each side, a brass-mounted powder-flask for pistols, the body embossed with reeding, and three shot-flasks each with leather body (10)
