A Medieval Great Sword Of Oakeshott Type XIIIa
13th/14th Century

In excavated condition, with broad double-edged blade with double fuller over nearly half its length on both sides, the forte on each side with latten-inlaid cross potent within a circle between a heart mark surmounted by a cross, and double 'Y' and star marks, hilt comprising straight quillons of circular section with trumpet-shaped terminals, flat slightly tapering long tang, and large chamfered pommel of cusped octagonal form surmounted by a stepped button
