With broad tapering double-edged blade with prominent central ridge along its entire length on both sides, the forte on one side struck with a foliate mark, hilt comprising iron guard formed of horizontally recurved quillons of hexagonal section springing from a quillon-block of hollowed diamond form and each incised with chevroned decoration, the copper-brazed tips each of flared octagonal section, deeply fluted kite-shaped pommel with a border of incised chevrons above and below on each side, spirally-fluted button on a petalled brass washer, and shouldered wooden grip of tapered hexagonal section covered with leather (worn, the iron parts rust patinated and now polished bright)
