Two Dutch-engraved wine glasses, circa 1740

One with a bell bowl engraved around the rim with birds amidst foliate garlands, on a plain stem with central teared knop and on a domed foot, 19cm high, the other with a funnel bowl, engraved around the rim with foliate garlands, on a multiple knopped stem and conical foot, 18cm high (chipped) (2)

Collected by the Dutch nobleman Jonkheer Mr. Willem J. Snouck Hurgronje (1848-1912) and Lady Anne Boreel (1861-1929), thence by descent to Jonkheer Mr. Aarnout Marinus Snouck Hurgronje and to the present owners. In 1929 part of the collection went to Gemeente Museum, The Hague.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
