A rare Dutch Glassmakers wine glass, circa 1750

The funnel bowl engraved with glass blowing scenes, one man works at the Glory Hole with a gather of glass on his blowing iron, while the Gaffer on his chair forms a wine glass joined at the pontil, a third workman is removing a glass from the Annealing Chamber by the furnace, and placing it in a row on a table behind inscribed around the rim 'T WELVAREN VANT GLAS HUYS VAN MEDDELBURG', on a slender stem with shoulder, centre and basal knops enclosing tears, conical folded foot, 19.1cm high

Saleroom notices

Provenance: Killean House on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland. Killean House was built in the 1880s by James McAlister Hall who worked for the East India Shipping Company and who died in 1904. This glass was inherited by the current owners grandfather when he inherited Killean House.
