Two Vienna mythological figures, circa 1755

Both seated on plinths moulded with puce-edged rocailles, one modelled as Paris holding an apple, the other with applied trailing leaves, 15.2cm high, shield marks in underglaze-blue, impressed W to one (some restoration and losses) (2)

Footnotes

The models are from a series of various mythological figures seated on plinths, ranging from gods and goddesses to allegories of the seasons. See E. Sturm-Bednarczyk/E. Sladek, Zeremonien - Feste - Kostüme (2010), nos. 46-48 for other examples from this series.
