Karl Pietsch (1828-1883) continued the Bohemian traditions of fine glass engraving, initially in Meistersdorf and subsequently in Steinschönau where he trained at the Pelikan workshop. From his own engraving workshop in Steinschönau, Pietsch supplied the Vienna retailers J & L Lobmeyr with specially-commissioned pieces of exhibition-quality engraving, including presentation works designed by August Eisenmenger. A fine covered goblet with related children figures engraved by Karl Pietsch was exhibited at Glasgallery Michael Kovacek, Glass of Four Centuries (1985), pp.322-323, cat.206.
