A Mala Powers tunic from Rose of Cimarron
Twentieth Century-Fox, 1952. Brown suede tunic with cream-colored suede laces at the front and at the sleeves. Bearing a "Western Costume Co." label on the interior zipper inscribed, "Mala Powers." Elaborate construction involving Peter Pan bra and body suit snap closures on the interior. Mala Powers was considered by many to be the Queen of B Western films and was known for doing most of her own stunt work. She studied acting under the legendary Michael Chekhov and carried on his legacy through books and speaking engagements, eventually becoming executrix of his estate. Accompanied by a signed vintage photograph of Powers wearing the tunic and a letter of provenance from her, gifting the garment.
