An original Ben Stahl painting for Ben-Hur
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1959. Oil on canvas, dated "1960" to lower right, framed. M-G-M commissioned painter Ben Stahl to create a set of eight large promotional paintings depicting highlights of Ben-Hur which were printed approximately one-sheet size and used to promote the film's roadshow release. This painting from that set depicts slaves mutinying on the Roman galley with Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston) aboard.
