A Ray Bolger prop rifle and personalized golf club
A military-style prop rifle, barrel plugged at both ends, with leather shoulder strap; with a putter, "Ray Bolger" engraved to head, ownership label "Ray Bolger / Bel-Air Country Club / Los Angeles 24, Calif." taped to shaft just above grip. With 6 black and white photographs of Bolger in USO shows, including several duplicates, most featuring the rifle. During World War II, dancer Ray Bolger used this prop rifle in USO revues with fellow comics like Little Jack Little for troops stationed in the Pacific Theater. This rifle appears to have been cobbled together from various rifle parts and is non-functional. Bolger was also an avid golfer, occasionally appearing in charity celebrity golf tournaments.
