An Alan Ladd tunic from Desert Legion
Universal International Pictures, 1953. A black French Foreign Legion tunic with 7 gold buttons up the front, 3 gold buttons and gold braid on each cuff, and 6 gold buttons on the back bottom of the tunic. "Western Costume Co." stamp on interior lining of arm, with a "38S" written in white ink and a cream-colored interior "Western Costume Co." typewritten label inscribed, "Alan Ladd." While Alan Ladd displayed some serious beefcake in this film, he also wore this jacket in many scenes while staving off danger and wooing the lovely Arlene Dahl. Ladd made a deal for a percentage of the profits with Universal, a canny business move almost unheard of at that time. Accompanied by a photo of Ladd wearing the jacket.
