A Jayne Mansfield gold lamé gown
Floor-length gold lamé evening gown with draped bodice and waist detail, ruching on the back, two long sashes that extend from each shoulder with gilt metal leaf charms on either side, and a black-lettered Ceil Chapman label. Mansfield was photographed in this dress at the 1960 Golden Globe Awards as well as in a series of photographs taken that year by Allan Grant for Life Magazine of the actress and her husband Mickey Hargitay at home at the Pink Palace in Beverly Hills. Chapman was a female designer who worked from the 1940s to '60s, producing a range of day and evening dresses. She is perhaps best known today as the favorite designer of Marilyn Monroe.
