A group of Hollywood photographs
Silver gelatin prints, 1920s-1940s, comprising approximately four hundred 8 x 10 in photographs of movie stars, 125 of which are housed in a black binder; with twenty-nine 11 x 14 in celebrity portraits, approximately 125 smaller photographs (mostly 4 x 5 in), and a signed, inscribed, and framed photograph of director Robert McGowan. Photographs depicting many movie stars of Hollywood's golden age, including many candids and behind-the-scenes images. Subjects include Humphrey Bogart, Joan Crawford, Barbara Stanwyck, Buster Keaton, Pola Negri, Peter Lorre, Sidney Greenstreet, Joel McCrea, John Garfield, Will Rogers, Ray Milland, Bela Lugosi, John Wayne, and Shirley Temple, as well as directors and producers like Darryl F. Zanuck, Jack Warner, Robert Florey, and William Wellman. The oversize photographs include portraits of Basil Rathbone, Harold Lloyd, Carole Lombard, and Norma Shearer. The signed photograph of Robert McGowan depicts McGowan with nine cast members of Our Gang and is inscribed, "To Billy Tucker / From Bob McGowan / The old and new / January 6, 1933."
