Two Tyrone Power early annotated scripts and a contract
Comprising 2 typed and carbon manuscripts: Tom Brown of Culver (Universal, 1932), no writing credits, 6 pp, April 5, 1932, ownership signature ("Tyrone Power, Jr.") to title page in pencil; Low and Behold (also titled Sex Must Go), mimeographed and typed carbon manuscript, approximately 50 pp, with several ownership signatures ("Tyrone Power, Jr.") in pencil, annotated, with 2 pp of sheet music finished in autograph, both manuscripts bound together in full gilt-stamped calf. With a typed carbon legal document, 17 pp, legal folio, February 18, 1939, signed ("Tyrone Power"), starting a bank trust that Twentieth Century-Fox would oversee on Power's behalf; and a typed letter signed ("Tyrone Power"), 1 p, 4to, April 25, 1938, Los Angeles, instructing Twentieth Century-Fox to acquire government bonds for Power. Directed by William Wyler, Tom Brown at Culver was Power's film debut (as "Tyrone Power, Jr."). The script pages here are mostly Power's lines for the film. The episodic musical comedy Sex Must Go was performed as Low and Behold at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1933, and is among Power's earliest stage roles. The contract and letter in this lot relate to Power's association with Twentieth Century-Fox, the first major studio he signed with.
