A Watercolor of Rudy Vallee at George White's Scandals
Watercolor on paper, signed indistinguishably and dated '31 at lower left, framed. Depicting Vallee mobbed by dancers from the cast of George White's Scandals of 1931, while the male audience members fume at being ignored. Vallee was one of the breakout stars of that year's revue. "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries," first performed by Ethel Merman at that year's show, became one of Vallee's signature songs, and he also discovered Alice Faye in the cast of that show.
