An early version prop piano and stool from Tim Burton's stop-motion-animation film Corpse Bride
Warner Bros., 2005. The coffin-shaped piano is constructed from wood and aluminum, has wooden keys affixed with elastic, and a mechanism at the back to assist the animation. Although similar in style to the coffin piano actually played by Victor and Victoria in the melancholy bar scene in the film, this version was probably an early design before it was decided to have both puppets sit alongside each other while playing. The stool is made of the same materials and is in the same style.
With thanks to Ian Mackinnon at "Mackinnon & Saunders Puppet Makers and Animation Producers," whose company was involved with the production of the props and puppets during the filming of Corpse Bride, and in turn received the prestigious Ub Iwerks Award for Technical Achievement.
