A production design for Citizen Kane
RKO, 1941. Charcoal on vellum, mounted on board, mounted on mat board. Depicting one of the opening shots of Charles Foster Kane's mansion, Xanadu, featuring a run-down drawbridge, canals, and an archway. Some captions have been erased at the bottom border and are now illegible. This appears to be a preparatory sketch, likely by Mario Larrinaga, for one of his famous matte paintings of Kane's castle on a hill.
