A pair of Bonnie Blue Butler pantaloons in Gone with the Wind
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. A child-sized pair of off-white pantaloons with a button closure at the waist and criss-cross straps above the waist, with gathered eyelit ruffles and ribbon at the knee, bearing an interior cream-colored label inscribed, "Selznick Int. Pictures, Inc." in green letters and "Bonnie / Double" written in black ink, with a "Western Costume Co. / Hollywood, Calif." stamp, and the word "double" written on another plain label sewn into the lining. During the making of Gone with the Wind, the designer, Walter Plunkett, was insistent that even the undergarments be authentic to the period; this pair is either the second pair for actress Cammie King, who played Bonnie, or a pair worn by her double.
