Two Darryl F. Zanuck annotated treatments of The Little Princess
Twentieth Century-Fox, 1939. Mimeographed manuscript, second revised treatment by Julien Josephson and Philip Dunne, 62 pp, September 22, 1937, "D.Z." to upper cover, bound in brads in yellow Twentieth Century-Fox wrappers, notes to title page and inner back wrapper. WITH: Mimeographed manuscript, new treatment by Walter Ferris and Ethel Hill, 62 pp, May 12, 1938, dated May 16, 1938 to front wrapper, bound in brads in reddish-brown Twentieth Century-Fox wrappers, with "D.Z." and "Conference" written to front wrapper in pencil.
Legendary producer Darryl F. Zanuck's personal copies of two treatments of this Shirley Temple vehicle, where Temple plays a young Victorian English girl thought orphaned but still searching for her soldier father. In the 1937 treatment, Zanuck writes to the title page, "Human - Copperfield / - modernize – real"; various passages are either crossed out or have checks beside them.
