ANCIENT PIRANHA IN LOG FRAME

A well-adapted predator, Phareodus possessed needle-like teeth and dorsal and anal fins positioned near the back of the fish, allowing quick changes of direction. The present specimen displays excellently detailed preservation of the pectoral fin, an important feature for identification of the species, as well as excellent gill detail.
