Footnotes

Compares Favorably
Holm, Bill, 1983, p. 123, ill. 208, for an example in silver. The two artists mentioned as potential makers of this lot worked in styles sufficiently similar as to make a sure attribution yet a point of speculation. While there are a handful of comparable silver examples attributed (even signed in one case) to Ginawaan, the use of gold makes this a particularly rare and precious artifact from the late 19th/early 20th century.
