The Apollo–Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) of 15 – 24 July 1975, was the first joint U.S - Soviet space flight, and the last flight of an Apollo spacecraft. The superpowers had agreed to conduct a joint space mission as early as April 1972, leaving ample time to make preparations such as this Joint Operations Checklist.
Jack Lousma (b. 1936) was the backup Docking Module Pilot of the United States Flight Crew for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP), was the pilot for Skylab 3 (he spent 11 hours on two spacewalks outside the Skylab space station, and was a member of the astronaut support crews for Apollo 9, 10, and 13, and was the CAPCOM recipient of the famous Apollo 13 message "Houston, we've had a problem."
