A Bohemian part ruby stained claret jug and stopper commemorating Munich, circa 1840-50

Of pear shape with a ribbed loop handle, the broad-fluted ground painted in ruby stain with intricate tendrils of fruiting vines, the four reserved panels engraved with views in Munich, the impressive buildings titled 'Glyptothek', 'Veuer Flugel d K Residenz', 'Walhalla' and 'K Hof u Nationaltheater', 30.5cm high (2)

A goblet with very similar views of Munich is in the Passau Glass Museum, illustrated by Georg Holtl et al, Das Böhmische Glass 1700-1900, vol. II, p.130, fig.179, there attributed to Dominik Biemann. In the same volume a goblet with other Rhenish views features the same use of a ground of vines painted in a ruby stain, see p.177, fig.261.
