A fine Bohemian ruby stained goblet and cover, circa 1835-50

The six-sided campana shaped bowl applied with a chamfered rectangular panel finely engraved in the manner of Franz Anton Pelikan, Meistersdorf, with a Turkish figure on horseback wearing a djellaba, another rider in the distance between palm trees, a single viewing lens at the reverse, a flange of sharply cut lobes at the base of the bowl, the spreading stem and foot with a turban-like band at the base of the stem, the underside of the foot cut with a series of snowflake-like panels, the cover strongly shaped with petal-like lobes at the rim,

Footnotes

This fine goblet was probably engraved in the Pelikan family workshop in Meistersdorf. The same subject occurs on a clear glass vase, see lot 79 in this sale.
