A Bohemian ruby overlay and stained goblet and cover, circa 1850-70

The campana shaped bowl overlaid in rich translucent ruby and cut through to the clear glass with three Arabesque panels each well engraved with a stag, the stem and cover striped with fine red lines, the central knop and the base edged with cut printies, the underside of the foot with star cutting, 42.5cm high (2)

A goblet of identical form in the Passau Glasmuseum is attributed to the Harrachov Glassworks, Neuwelt and this bears engraving by Emanuel Hoffmann, Karlsbad. This is illustrated by Brozová, von Buquoy and Spiegl, Das Bõhmische Glas 1700-1950, vol.II, p.124, fig.164
