A pair of Bohemian ruby stained tazzas, circa 1840-60

With broad-fluted circular tops cut with deep scallops at the rims, the undersides engraved with continuous scenes of stags and deer in forest landscapes, the spreading stems of octagonal section with double collars and engraved with borders of fruiting vine branches around the feet, 26.5cm diam, 18cm high (2)

Footnotes

One tazza had been engraved with a further tree on the upper surface, giving a tree-dimensional effect to the woodland in an attempt to disguise a break at the rim.
