A pair of Czechoslovakian goblets and covers, Lorenz Brothers Glassworks, Steinschönau, circa 1920-40

Of chalice form, overlaid all over in transparent cobalt blue and engraved through to the clear glass with deer in a forest clearing, similar friezes of deer on the covers, the heavy spreading bases cut with radiating bands of graduated ovals, 35.5cm high (4)

Similar goblets are illustrated in the Sales Catalogues of Gebrüder Lorenz, c.1920-40, see the Catalogue, Glass in the Rijksmuseum (1993), Vol.I, p.320, fig. 449 where a related goblet in red glass is shown. The Lorenz Brothers revived traditional Bohemian styles.
