Ten Eastern Edged Weapons
19th Century And Later

Comprising an Indonesian cleaver with blade cut with a series of hook-like notches along the back, the grip covered in brass embossed with foliage inhabited by winged figures; a Chinese falchion, the blade with engraved decoration, and cord-bound wooden grip (binding loose); three Sumatran kris, each of characteristic form, one with carved bone grip, in its original wooden scabbard, the hilt and scabbard covered in silvered brass embossed with foliage; a Malaysian bade-bade with horn grip, in its original scabbard; a Malaysian hanger with falshion-like blade, and brass-mounted bone grip, in its brass-mounted wooden scabbard; an Indian edged weapon with large curved single-edged blade, and wooden haft; a North African nimcha, the characteristic wooden hilt and brass mounted scabbard inlaid with white-metal wire scrollwork highlighted in red pigment; a North African dagger of flyssa type; a Persian all-steel mace, the head formed as a devil's head and etched overall with foliage (10)
