The boar mounted to one of the chenets is after the seated boar fountain, Il Porcellino in Florence. The fountain figure was sculpted and cast by the Baroque master Pietro Tacca (1577–1640) a copy of the marble original which can be seen in the classical section of the Uffizi Museum. The original, which was found in Rome and removed to Florence in the mid-16th century by the Medici.
The Louvre collection holds a pair of Louis XV chenets featuring a similar stag and the same seated boar on ornate bases that was in Madame du Barry's drawing room in Fontainebleau
