A gilt metal-mounted Japanese gosai-Imari bowl and cover

Circa 1700
Painted and enamelled in underglaze blue, iron red, gilt, green, aubergine and yellow, with three oval landscape medallions reserved on a ground of scrolling chrysanthemum, later mounted in gilt bronze as a double-handled tazza with fruiting knop finial. 13.5cm (5 1/4in) high, 17cm (6 5/8in) wide (2).
