A Fine Pair Of Continental 20-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistols
Circa 1730-40, Probably Liège

With two-stage barrels each engraved around the brass fore-sight, the engraving retaining faint traces of gilding, breeches each chiselled with symmetrical foliage centred on a cartouche engraved 'Paris', surmounted by a baldachin and all against a finely punched gilt ground, tangs, flat bevelled locks, cocks and steels all en suite, moulded highly figured full stocks with beaked pommels (one with minor chips), mounts cast and chased in low relief with martial trophies and foliage, comprising shaped side-plates, vacant escutcheons, large pommel-caps each with a grotesque mask, trigger-guards each with foliate finial, faceted ramrod-pipes, and original steel-capped wooden ramrods (steel parts with light rust patination) (2)
