A Knightly Sword From The Castillon Group
Early 15th Century

In excavated condition, with sharply tapering double-edged blade of flattened hollow diamond section, the hilt comprising flat tapering quillons of oblong section with downbent rounded tips and raised at the swelling centre to form a narrow vertical rib above a small écusson, tapering tang, and heavy deeply chamfered wheel pommel (severely corroded on one side) with circular central recess on each side and drawn up at the top to form a pronounced button
