With broad flattened blade double-edged towards the tip, each face with broad shallow almost full-length fullers and narrow shorter fullers along the back edge, one face struck with two marks, one probably that of the Stantler family of Munich, iron guard of slender bars comprising vertically recurved quillons each with spirally-fluted globular tip, knuckle-guard interrupted by a knop of hexagonal section and linked on the inner side by a curved bifurcated bar to the thumb-ring, one on the outer side to a large upturned shell formed as a scallop and rising to a small scroll at its apex, fluted mushroom-shaped pommel, and wooden grip with later copper and brass binding (minor surface pitting overall)
