A Mughal gem-set jade stem Cup
India, 18th Century

of white carved jade, the delicate rounded cup rising from a circular splayed foot and elongated stem, the exterior of the cup decorated with a frieze of stylised floral sprays set with diamonds, emeralds and rubies in gold, interspersed with emerald-set leaf motifs, a band of gold below the rim, the foot with ruby-set floral buds on short gold stems
5 cm. high
