With tapering single-edged blade, the forte on each side stamped respectively 'ANDREA' and 'FARARA', the letters divided by deeply struck profile Turk's heads marks and cut with a pair of narrow fullers running either side, iron guard finely formed of rounded bars framing fluted central and side panels with shaped borders and pierced with stylised hearts, the latter each set above a 'ram's horn' (one incomplete) with scallop shell terminal, the main panels on either side of cusped oval form centred on curved saltires and each pierced with four stylised hearts and central star, fore-guards, scrolled wrist-guard, fluted conical pommel with prominent button, original fish skin-covered spirally grooved grip (worn, some worming) bound with a strand of iron ribbon, and retaining its original buff-leather liner and remains of a knotted tassel (russet overall)
