With tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section etched and gilt with labelled figures of the Twelve Apostles over nearly its entire length on both sides, the forte on each side etched and gilt with a decorative oval between foliated strapwork, steel hilt of characteristic form decorated overall with chased flowering gold foliage within chiselled ovals suspended from ribbons, all against punched gilt grounds, the remaining surfaces fluted and encrusted with lines of minute gold florets and garlands, and grip bound with twisted silver wire and silver ribbon, the latter alternately plain and embossed with minute flower-heads (some wear and minor rust patination)
