With steel head comprising off-set angular blade deeply incised with comets, pierced with a heart shape and two groups of circular holes, and faceted socket with chequered block-shaped peen, wooden haft inlaid with staghorn plaques against a ground of staghorn dots, the former (one replaced) variously engraved with foliage, flower-heads and figures of miners, the beaked staghorn base-mount engraved with the crowned arms of Saxony on one side and with a crowned pick and hammer on the other between the date and above the initials 'JGR', and with staghorn button terminal
