A 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Trooper's Sabre
By Woolley & Co., Birmingham, Late 18th Century

With bright fullered blade double-edged at the point (broken through and repaired), the back at the forte stamped 'Woolley' and with a crowned inspector's mark on one side, regulation russet steel stirrup hilt with rounded pommel and back-piece in one, and ribbed leather-covered grip, in original russet steel scabbard signed in script on one side of the throat, and with two rings for suspension (some surface rust and pitting overall)
