A Pair Of Balkan 18-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistols (Zlatkas) With Silver-Gilt Mounts
Prizren, Early 19th Century

With barrels each lightly chiselled with foliage at the breech and with four brass-lined barrelsmith's marks at the octagonal breech, tangs grooved for sighting, border engraved flat bevelled locks and cocks decorated with foliate scrollwork, wooden full stocks entirely covered in silver-gilt secured by pins and finely embossed and chased overall with scrolling foliage involving flower-heads and scallop shells, all against a finely stippled ground, spurred pommels, muzzle-sleeves, and barrel bands (one an old replacement) en suite, butts bound with twisted silver and plain brass wire, foliate engraved false ramrods, and retaining nearly all their original gilding (2)
