A Balkan 20-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol (Ledenica) With Nielloed Silver Stock
19th Century, Probably Ioannina

With two-stage barrel, octagonal breech, tang covered with a silver plate nielloed with foliage and masks, border engraved lock decorated with foliage and signed 'Moretta' beneath the pan, heavy full stock with curved butt cast and chased overall in low relief with flower-heads and foliage against finely punched grounds, all within nielloed ribbon-like borders involving suns-in-splendour, masks, flower-heads, and a double-headed eagle behind the barrel tang, spirally fluted bulbous pommel, trigger-guard and muzzle-sleeve en suite with the stock, and false ramrod (barrel and lock with some light pitting)
