The first with domed skull etched overall with figures of demons holding snakes, all against a ground of scrolling foliage inhabited by birds, the rim bordered by panels of Persian verses in cursive script, fitted with two plume-holders and central spike of diamond section, adjustable nasal (screw missing) with shaped finials originally silver-damascened, and vandycked camail (some losses) of small butted rings (rust patinated overall); the second with twist sighted barrel fluted at the flared muzzle and at the mid-section, breech with punched foliate decoration along the top flat and arched recess for a barrelsmith's mark (missing), hardwood full stock (some damage) with fish-tail butt, brass mounts (one barrel band replaced and repaired), trigger pierced with a hole, and original iron ramrod with turned baluster tip (some wear and pitting overall); the last of shallow convex leather, the outer surface with four gilt-copper bosses each embossed and chased with foliage, a further boss above pierced and chased with a bird within a raised border of foliage with tiger-head terminals, lacquered overall and centred on a roundel of concentric circles painted with foliage in polychrome, the outer border en suite, the interior retaining its plum velvet pad (the decoration crazed and incomplete) (3)
