A Turkish Yataghan
Dated 1219 A.H. Corresponding To 1804 A.D.

Similar to the last, the blade (some light pitting) crudely inlaid in silver along one side with the date and the names of the Seven Sleepers in thuluth, and along the other with inlaid silver decoration, a shaped brass mount over the forte embossed with flower-heads and set on each side with two minute pieces of red coral (corallium rubrum), hilt with grip-strap embossed en suite, and 'eared' dark horn grip-scales carved with flower-heads, in its wooden scabbard now covered in plum velvet with deep gilt-copper locket and chape each stamped at the back with circular tughra of Osman III (r. 1754-57), and embossed and chased with flowering foliage along both sides against a stippled ground, the former with dolphin-shaped suspension mount, the latter with monster-head terminal
