First Quarter Of The 16th Century
With long sharply tapering blade of hollow ground stiff triangular section struck with three bladesmith's marks on one side at the forte, iron hilt comprising horizontally recurved quillons of circular section each widening and incised with a double turn at the bell-shaped terminal, compressed globular pommel surmounted by a tang button, and original slender wooden grip of circular section tapering above a swelling near the top and covered with blackened leather (leather with some old damage, some wear and rust patination overall)
