A Medieval Sword Of Oakeshott Type Xa With Highly Unusual Pommel Of Octahedron Form
12th/13th Century

In excavated condition, with broad double-edged blade with narrow central fuller over most of its length on each side to the rounded point, hilt comprising straight quillons of slight octagonal section swelling at the tang, and large pommel drawn-out to blunt points
85.5 cm. blade, 103.3 cm. overall
