A Sword Of Viking Type, Peterson Type X
10th/11th Century

In excavated condition, with broad tapering double-edged blade with shallow central fuller over most of its length on each side, hilt comprising flat slightly arched quillons tapering towards the tips, one tip retaining river-bed accretions, flat slightly tapering tang, and pommel of tea-cosy form (some flaking and loss of surface finish)
83.5 cm. blade, 97.8 cm. overall
